Monochrome Living

If you are looking for a sophisticated and calming neutral palette for your home, then how about a touch of monochrome for your living space?
Monochrome adds a simple and serene feel to any room and the simple colour base leaves plenty of rooms to play with pattern, shape and texture to create sharp definition. White walls teamed with black frames or as a backdrop to black furniture can give your home an instant lift. Starting with a neutral black and white palette is a great base for any home and gives endless freedom to explore with bright and bold prints. A pale sofa with patterned and colourful cushions is the perfect accent piece to add some interest to your interior. Accessorize with our Riley Cushions in black to balance out a bright sofa piece.
If you aren’t ready to go bold with black and white, there is a grey area. Grey softens up this palette for a warm feel and helps to subtly blend monochrome shades with other elements in your home. Grey, black and white is balanced beautifully together and gives the illusion of a smooth and uncluttered finish. The use of simple furnishings with white walls and contrasting dark couches and accessories creates a spacious and warm interior. Risenn’s range of mirrored pieces is slick, sharp and can dramatically transform a space. Whether it’s our delicate Kensington bedside tables or our Acacia collection of vases we know your guests will have monochrome envy.
Colour still has a place in your home and can complete this look perfectly. Adding a splash of colour to monochrome interiors adds instant appeal and interest. Using one colour or tones of one colour, it’s hard to go wrong with this one!
Monochrome is a trend that is ever popular and will always work itself into other trends, and is a great long-term style investment for your home. Make your next investment with Risenn’s beautiful collection of monochrome pieces.

Vamp up your wall

The décor scheme of any room can be pulled together enormously by a single piece of striking wall art. Wall art can create a focal point in any space and is a great way to create a mood in such a simple way.  Depending on the look you are going for, wall art can add a pop of colour and added sophistication and glamour to your home. Accessorize above a coffee table or in your bedroom for a touch of elegance, wall art can transform any room and tie and underlying theme together and compliment your home. Replace expanses of plain white wall with interest, mood and character with Risenn’s collection of wall art to suit any space in your home.

Our beautiful vintage depictions of iconic Swiss fashion label, Bally make a great addition to your home for an art deco look and a pop of colour. Bernard Villemot originally designed the Bally Shoes Poster with the intent of advertising that turned into art. With a range of prints in the collection, there is a colour scheme and style to suit any personality and décor scheme. Each piece displays sharp, vivid images with a high degree of colour accuracy. For a burst of colour in your room, the Bally Legs Wall Art piece is one of the most recognised prints from the collection and will be a striking addition to your wall.

If bold striking wall art isn’t for you, add a soft femininity to your home with our framed couture magazine covers available at Risenn. These stunning covers paired with a black frame add a touch elegance and style to any space. With simple red, black, white and grey colours they will compliment any interior style. These pieces would be the perfect addition to your bedroom and can work individually or paired together as three in a row for an understated sophisticated feel.

Candles are one of the easiest, inexpensive and stylish ways to change the look and mood of one’s home décor. They don’t just illuminate a space, but can be as decorative as artwork complimenting styles and personalities. Candles are a beautiful accessory that adds ambience and drama to a room, while bringing a sense of occasion to ordinary moments.

Our Green Living candles are the perfect match for adding romance and fragrance to a room. In stunning crystal vintage glass cups, these eco friendly scented candles are made from pure soy wax and fragrance oils. Whether used around the bath or as a side table piece, these candles will certainly tickle your senses. For something bold, our range of VOODOO candles come in a range of colours and make a statement for those that are daring.

For indoor and outdoor table settings, our candleholder Hampton Lantern and Long Island Lanterns collections make an elegant and understated centrepiece for all occasions. Alternatively, create your own candle display with our Lexington Mirror Tray, by adding an assortment of candles with your favourite scent. Add vases for a sculptural effect.

Spectacular & Sophisticated

Don’t settle for ‘mainstream’ when it is just as easy to create spectacular displays to electrify the atmosphere of your living space, and impress your family and guests.

Consider stepping outside the norm and start experimenting with bold shapes and colours to turn your modest home into a grand residence. Instead of using plain and mainstream furniture pieces – indulge in something simple but striking to amplify flare in your living space but avoiding extremes. We recommend using bedside or side tables with bold designs such as our Alondra Side Table.

A clever play on lighting can help strengthen and intensify focus to your display feature. We love teaming lighting pieces with reflective surfaces.  Although this technique is very easy, we should remember that complex design is vital in turning something basic into something special. A spectacular mirror piece has the capacity to transform a small glow into a magnificent radiance.  Our Rossano Wall Mirror celebrates bold character and sophistication with its unique and edgy design.
Table lamps, like our Zari Lamp Base Torin BlackShade, are also a perfect way of achieving both reflection and glow with the use of only one piece.

Grey is the New White

Celebrating mild shades of grey has become the latest trend in interior design however, it is vital that this shadowing colour does not restrict your space.  Unlike popular white interior trends, depth and shading can be achieved through this new colour scheme. Grey and cream palettes present a more elegant and sophisticated feel to a room without neglecting the need for neutrality.

Lighting is essential to executing this colour scheme as the continuous spread of ‘shading’ throughout your home can create a restricting effect. Consider maximising your space with lighting and reflective surfaces.  Table lamps are a great way of creating a magnificent, uprising glow amongst a sea of shading. We recommend pieces like our CascadeTable Lamp and our Ada Table Lamp, which complement this luxurious colour scheme.

Reflective surfaces are easy to integrate into your decor and create a wonderful spacious effect. We love our new Banks Occasion Table and Octavia Mirror. Lastly, consider using small portions of white coloured decor like our Minx Temple Jar to brighten and complete your home.

Squares and Stability

Simple shapes and lines may seem basic, but are the key to achieving stability without neglecting creativity.
The repetitive use of square and rectangle shapes in your interior design can express positive feelings of comfort and rationality. However, this technique alone can become plain and boring. Consider different textures, patterns and a small palette of colours to create a subtle hint of flare. Our range of cushions provides an easy way of presenting these important varieties whilst celebrating the simplicity of square shapes. We recommend mixing up some of our natural designs such as our Cape White or Square Black cushions, with some of our more frivolous and extravagant Fenton Red and Ashanti designs.

Series of congruent shapes are a perfect way of leading the eye. This can range from shapes presented in the architecture of a hallway, to the presentation of elegant decor pieces. Our Lexington Mirror Tray is a perfect way to optimise the use of this congruent technique.

Horizontal Lines can reiterate feelings of stability within your design, but can also add vital elements of breadth.  Lines can be created by placing square or rectangular decor or furniture together to visually expand your living space. Additionally, try aligning repetitive and alike wall art, such as beautiful pieces from our Bally or our Couture collection, to evoke feelings of movement, momentum and breadth.

MONOCHROME: Sophisticated Shades of Grey

Less can prove to be more when selecting a palette of colour for your bedroom or living area. Monochrome is a phenomenal colour scheme that celebrates the use of a single base colour. As simple as this design technique sounds, it is essential to pay attention to detail in order to execute this look.

Consider your base colour and adapt a handful of different shades and tones on a spectrum of dark to light. This will avoid drowning out spectacular light and shapes projected by beautiful furniture and decor pieces. We recommend using black as a base, and blending different shades of grey into your design, to achieve a classy and sophisticated atmosphere.

Patterns and textures that abide by your selected palette can create strong and artistic depth. It is important not to become excessive when implementing different prints in order to avoid overwhelming confusion, clutter and a sense of mismatch.  Alternatively, pick a restricted selection of patterns and textures that vary in the strength of their presence – from subtle to dominant. For a black based monochrome scheme, consider our Chevron cushion and throw blanket. View our entire cushion range for wider range of designs.

It is absolutely crucial to avoid excessive and overpowering use of one colour. We recommend using plentiful shades of white, as well as a range of glass and metallic pieces to work into your interior design to balance out the use of your defined base. Try our Tribeca Chrome Torin Mocha Shade for a bold metallic choice, or indulge the intricate glass design of our CarolineTable Lamp.

Finally, but most importantly, when using black as your base colour, we encourage you to choose one vibrant colour and implement it very sparingly into your design. Petite decorative pieces or single coloured floral arrangements are perfect or this technique and will liven up the character of your room with stylish flare.
